My Smoke My Choice

Its okay to breathe in Delhi in November but you smoke, and everyone loses their minds. Here’s a little fun fact to start off this read: Breathing Delhi’s air in November is equivalent to smoking 10 to 15 cigarettes every single day.

Shocked much? Or are you just going to let this slide and not do anything about it because people aren’t holding a Gold Flake in their hand? The impacts of air pollution are hardly ever taken into consideration and the government doesn’t get nearly enough slack as compared to us poor smokers.

Hi, I’m Mahesh and I really don’t like how smokers are unnecessarily targeted. When we smoke, we’re shunned into separate rooms, not allowed in public and get stared at with eyes of disgust. Everyone starts campaigns forcing us to quit. 2021’s theme for crying out loud is ‘Committing to Quit!’ But have you ever thought about it like this?... When we smoke, it’s our body, our mind, our money, our choice.

But the government doing little to nothing about the levels of air pollution is definitely more concerning. They’re putting the lives of newborns in danger. People don’t have a choice but to breathe-in the filth. It’s in a way or so - murder.

Now I know that an environmental crisis can’t be solved overnight. We’re all pretty understanding like that. Which is why, there aren’t riots and protests against the government on a daily basis. All we ask in return though is for you to have the same understanding towards me and all my fellow smokers. Let us make our own decisions and let us light our Gold Flake Lights knowing we won’t be treated like outcasts. Is that too much to ask?

If you enjoyed this article, let us know in the comments below. I can do a part two for you as well. Because there’s a lot more where this came from! Cheers.

MARRIED TO MY CIGARETTES FIRST

The idea that your parents get to pick the person you’re going to spend the rest of your numbered days with remains as one of the most intrinsically Indian concepts. Nihal, a 23-year-old marketing consultant noticed that people in arranged marriages tend to stay together for longer. And began browsing through the cliche shaadi.com. At first, he opened the site just for laughs. You know, to tell funny stories to his friends and his actual wife later on. He started browsing through profiles of various girls, now this is shocking but he was actually impressed with a lot of them! He was even in the position where he couldn’t pick which one was better.  Instead of the ordinary, “I love pets!” And “I enjoy spending time in the library” crap. A lot of the girls had stunning write-ups on their profiles saying, “No one can roll like I do!” And Nihal’s favourite, “I’d offer you a cigarette when we meet but if I meet you… I’m sure you’re already smoking hot!” He immediately got in touch with ...

Purses are Heavy, Cigrattes are Trendy!

I’m not like most people at parties. I don’t like carrying a fancy purse or engaging in small talk. And am certainly no pro at making holding a starter, a handbag and a conversation seem effortless. I literally show up at a party with nothing but my Classic Ice Burst. I feel it helps me attract my kind of people. I mean… Think about it…    Showing up to a party with your cigarette can potentially say a lot about you. Perhaps that you’re not one for the “what’s up?” or a forced, “how’s it going?” that literally leads to no response or an awkward, “not much.” In fact, it lets people know that you’re down to chill, have meaningful conversations and not one to talk a lot about well, nothing. I’ve made a lot of lovely friendships like this. Which is why I thought I’d recommend it to you.     Ooooh! Also, carrying your cigarette wherever you go, gives you a little escape from any and everything life throws at you. I like to call it my very own punctuation mark. I some...
